The role
Our client is looking to hire an Assistant Underwriter to join their Hoofddorp office on an initial 6-month contract. The role will be supporting different lines of business including Life Sciences and Technology, within this leading specialist commercial insurance provider.
Responsibilities
• Contribute to business plan achievement by handling renewals and writing new business within underwriting authority.
• Establish and build upon relationships with brokers, clients, reinsurers and Lloyds as necessary
• Promote the development of the business by identifying new business and cross sell opportunities.
• Support the preparation of the business plan and any other document/ information as required.
• Ensure accurate entry of policy aggregate information onto the relevant software and spreadsheets, as required.
• Prepare and report figures and statistics for the business unit or team account.
• Support the monitoring and control of the business, as directed by Underwriters
• Liaise with and assist the claims department when required in the settlement of claims
• Comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and ensure, at a level appropriate to the position, that appropriate measures are in place to ensure this compliance
• May perform additional duties as assigned.
What do you need?
• Prior office Administration experience. Insurance experience is beneficial but not essential
• Ability to plan and organise own role effectively
• Mathematical and statistical ability
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and rapport building skills
• Effective influencing skills
• Ability to be assertive when appropriate
• Ability to use appropriate systems to the technical level required
