Your new role

In your new role as a Technician Baculovirus Generation, you will be working within the Drug Substance Development department, responsible for generating and analysing new baculoviruses for research and manufacturing purposes in various stages of process development, from research to GMP manufacturing. You will play a crucial role in the team supporting the generation and analysis of baculoviruses.

Your responsibilities will consist of, but are not limited to:
  • Generating recombinant baculoviruses for research and GMP manufacturing
  • Perform a range of molecular biological analyses: e.g. cloning, PCR, qPCR, DNA sequence analysis
  • Maintaining (insect) cell cultures
  • Accurately collect, manage, analyse and document experimental data.
  • Contributing to AAV product quality testing
  • Communicating the work and results to your direct supervisor and in group meetings
  • Planning and executing your own experimental work in connection with timelines.
  • Supporting lab management and organisation.
  • Strengthening the team in daily operations, troubleshooting and improvements.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or equivalent, with ideally at least 2 years of professional experience in the field of Cell & Gene therapy. During these years you gained experience with several techniques, such as: Cloning techniques, PCR, qPCR, DNA electrophoresis, primer design and DNA sequence analysis.

Furthermore, you have:
  • Experience with (insect) cell culture and aseptic techniques.
  • Good computer skills: MS-Word and Excel, DNA analysis software
  • Good English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Basic knowledge of GMP/GLP and quality systems in general.
  • A proactive, adaptive and professional attitude
  • An accurate, detail-oriented and organised mindset

What you'll get in return

Hays Detachering | This is a temporary role to cover maternity leave till the end of the year with a contract through Hays. This role will give you a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in an international and dynamic environment within the pharmaceutical industry. In this position, you will get a competitive salary of €47.000 – €52.000 gross per year and your travel expenses are covered.

The Drug Substance Development (DSD) department is responsible for generating and characterising biological starting materials and developing production processes that will be used to manufacture therapeutic AAVs for clinical studies.
