Position Overview:
Located at the Global Headquarters in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and reporting to the Group Controller, the IFRS Policies team is an integral part of the broader Policies & Procedures (P&P) team. This team is responsible for monitoring international and national developments in financial reporting for banks, translating these into global accounting policies, and advising the Executive Board and Business lines on their application. The team has six accounting specialists at this moment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and analyse accounting changes and their impact.
- Develop accounting policies for financial reporting in accordance with IFRS and Dutch law.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to Group and Business Line Management on technical financial reporting issues, providing guidance on complex accounting matters to support informed decision-making.
- Advise management on positions in international and national consultative bodies related to IFRS-based financial reporting.
- Monitor and participate in new developments in financial reporting for financial institutions, particularly regarding IFRS, at both national and international levels.
- Collaborate with other financial institutions and regulatory departments to ensure broad support for financial reporting positions.
- Review financial reports for compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
- Educate and train Group management and business units on developments in financial reporting policies based on IFRS.
- Provide support and advice on accounting-related issues to other departments.
Qualifications:
- Over seven years of relevant experience with deep technical knowledge and practical application of IFRS in the banking sector.
- Familiarity with Dutch financial reporting laws.
- Strong business acumen and communication skills to effectively convey key accounting messages to stakeholders.
- Ethical and professional demeanour with good judgment and confidence to represent the company in various settings.
- Ability to manage stakeholder relationships and build strong connections with various parties.
- Proven track record as a business partner and trusted advisor to senior management and internal clients.
- Global perspective and cultural sensitivity.
