Your new role
As a Junior Animal Technician, you and your department are a major contributor to the quality monitoring of your employer’s AAV-based products as well as a value generator by delivering new technologies and therapeutic targets. Your activities are supporting the whole scope of AAV product development and have to be recognized as the explorative start of a project.
Your tasks include:
  • Providing direct support for the execution of research plans.
  • Working with scientists and technicians to execute routine procedures such as dosing via various routes of administration, bleeding, tissue collections, and necropsies, animal health monitoring, as well as the recording and collection of data.
  • Communicating study progress and results within the team and within the R&D department.
  • Organizing appropriate documentation to support e.g. study plans/reports.
  • Consolidating quality control for all in vivo operations.

Your profile
In order to be successful as a Junior Animal Technician, you should have laboratory experience in the field of neuroscience, gene therapy, and/or in vivo procedures, handling and care. Internship experience is also acceptable. Animal experience (art. 9 / 12 / 13f Dutch law on animal experimentation) and practical knowledge of and hands-on experience in small animal surgery is required. You also have Experience with handling of animals, animal tissues and biofluids for DNA, RNA and protein analysis. It is considered a plus if you also have experience with stereotactic surgeries, and/or intravenous injections.
As a person, you are diligent, quality focused and you have strong communication skills. The company is looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual with a curious mindset and hands on attitude. You have strong organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
